Bridge Heights in Southwest Florida

The bridge between a waterfront home and open water decides what boat that home can ever have, and this map shows the height of every one of them across Southwest Florida.

How To Read The Map

Each pin is a fixed bridge, and its name gives you the vertical clearance in feet. Drawbridges and the swing bridge show the clearance when the bridge is closed. Open the pin for the bridge name and location.

The pins also mark powerlines that cross the water, weirs and earth dams where there is no boat access, the two boat locks, and the Palm Island Ferry.

Clearance is measured from the water up to the lowest part of the bridge. What matters is your boat's air draft, which is its height above the waterline with everything up: antennas, radar, outriggers, and a hardtop or tower. Bridge heights are figured at mean high water, so at low tide you usually have a little more room than the number on the pin.

These heights are approximate. Always check the clearance against your own boat before relying on it. Want it as a plain list? See the full Bridge Heights chart written out.
